Holiday homes are for unwinding and connecting – with self, family and friends. With this redesign it was important to open up the space to allow all the family to gather, while also providing zones for relaxation and retreat.

Refurbishment of family holiday home

Baxter+Co worked with sketchArch to transform the heart of this generous family holiday home on Sydney’s Northern Beaches – creating light, space and connection through the introduction of vaulted ceilings in the dining and living spaces, and a central two-way fireplace.
The fireplace works to accentuate the ceiling height and maintain connection between the spaces on the main living level. It also introduces warmth and cosiness in the centre of the home. Natural stone, v-joint panelling and shaker style joinery keeps the material palette simple and elegant throughout. While the abundance of natural light and views to outdoors enhances the sense of light and flow.
This a home that breathes. Generous hallways and circulation space means there is plenty of room when everyone – grandparents, kids and young grandkids – come together.

“Baxter+Co transformed our ugly duckling into a warm, welcoming and very practical large family beach house. Working with Sally was a pleasure; she is calm, reassuring and took all the stress out of the process. She listened to our wishes and we are absolutely delighted with the result.” — Client
