For the humans of this home ‘family living’ means time spent on the water boating and swimming; and entertaining with family and friends. Maximising the indoor-outdoor connection was paramount for the design of this spacious seaside home.

Brief
New build of waterside family home

Baxter+Co collaborated with architect David Hunt to fulfil the family’s brief. The indoor-outdoor connection is central to all spaces, including the expansive kitchen and lounge which opens seamlessly to the outdoor entertaining space with sandstone clad fireplace and water views beyond.
The master suite features floor to ceiling glazing that looks out over pebbled roof to tranquil water views below. Soft curtains billow in the ocean breeze, and the master ensuite – set back in the room – features frameless glass windows and custom mirror cabinets that fold into the walls, making the most of the stunning outlook while providing privacy and functionality within the space.
The natural materials palette features rich timber tones, which line the ceiling in the glass connection between living and sleeping zones. Timber veneer wraps around the lift and butler’s pantry core, sandwiched between the concrete ceiling plane and tiled floor. Tonal floor tiles work to lead the eye out to the view. Even the laundry features bifold doors that open to invite in light and views across the pool to the sea.

The overall result is a calm and tranquil waterside home, that reflects the style and richness of the family who lives here.
